HomeCaribbean Hut Blog, Charlotte, NCAll About Jerk Chicken, A Classic Caribbean Food

The “jerk” in Jerk Chicken refers to a type of cooking

If you are looking for authentic Caribbean foods, there is only one place to go — Caribbean Hut! Fifteen years ago, our founder Trevor Lewis established Caribbean Hut in Charlotte, North Carolina. He gave this city a way to try the authentic smoky, sweet, and spicy flavors of delicious Caribbean foods.

There are several staples of Caribbean food. One of those is Jerk Chicken. No one quite knows where the name “Jerk” chicken came from or what it means. One thing is for sure, the dish is an amazing, classic Caribbean flavor and one of the staple menu items at Caribbean Hut.

The “jerk” in Jerk Chicken refers to a type of cooking. Meat is seasoned with jerk seasoning. It is traditionally either administered as a dry rub or meat will be marinated in a jerk-seasoned sauce. These methods help produce a tasty, well-seasoned dish before cooking even begins!

At Caribbean Hut, we use our signature jerk seasoning on chicken, shrimp, and with other dishes to produced a power-packed flavor that balances smoky, spicy, and sweet. This is a dish you don’t want to miss!
